A trading platform should not care what is under the keyboard, and the TM9 Web Platform mostly does not. It runs in virtually any modern web browser on any common operating system, because the work happens in the browser rather than in software installed on the machine. Windows at the office, a Mac at home, Linux on an old laptop pressed back into service — all of them reach the same account.
That breadth is the reason web access is the most reliable fallback in a trader's toolkit. When a phone is out of battery and the usual laptop is at home, whatever machine is available will almost certainly run the platform, and the requirements list is short: a modern browser, a working internet connection and your login.
Screen size is the other variable people forget: the platform will happily run on a small laptop, but reading several charts at once is far easier on a larger display, and that choice affects your working day more than the operating system does. The one thing worth keeping current is the browser itself. Modern web applications rely on features that older browser versions simply do not have, so most of the odd rendering or sluggishness people blame on a platform disappears after an update. If something looks wrong, that is the first thing to try.
Where installing software is possible, the desktop terminal and the mobile apps add options the browser cannot match — large multi-chart workspaces, and automated strategies that need to run continuously rather than for the life of a tab. Most traders run a combination, with the browser covering the machines they cannot or would rather not install on.
